Former Rep. George Santos (R-NY) has been without a job for several days now, and he’s already found a new way to cash in on his notoriety: Cameo, the app where people can pay celebrities to create messages for their loved ones.

And one Democrat found a creative way to troll one of his colleagues.

Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) paid Santos to make a video message for Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ), who is currently under federal investigation on charges connected to an alleged bribery scheme in which he acted as a foreign agent for Egypt.

“Hey Bobby!” Santos says in the video. “Look, I don’t think I need to tell you, but these people that want to make you get in trouble and want to kick you out and make you run away, you make ’em put up or shut up!” Santos was referring to what he told the press last week when he told the press that his colleagues should “put up or shut up” when it came to expelling him. They did, and he became the sixth congress member to ever be expelled from the House on Friday.

“You stand your ground, sir! Don’t get bogged down by all the haters out there. Stay strong, Merry Christmas!”

“I thought my ethically-challenged colleague [Sen. Menendez] could use some encouragement given his substantial legal problems,” Fetterman wrote in sharing the video. “So, I approached a seasoned expert on the matter to give ‘Bobby from Jersey’ some advice.”

Menendez is accused of accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars in gifts from a meat company in New Jersey. The gifts from the company, IS EG Halal, included a Mercedez-Benz car, furniture, and mortgage payments. Federal investigators also found hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash and gold bars in Menendez’s home in a June 2022 search.

Prosecutors believe that Menendez used his position as chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to help IS EG Halal get an exclusive contract with Egypt to certify its exports. Investigators believe that Menendez used the U.S.’s aid and arms deals with Egypt to apply pressure.

Menendez denies all wrongdoing.

Santos stood up for Menendez several months ago, saying that “due process” meant withholding judgment on the senator until he has been found guilty by a court.

This isn’t the only message Santos made for a famous politician since he started working on Cameo. Out Nebraska Sen. Megan Hunt (I) – the mother of a trans child who got national attention this year for being one of three Nebraska senators to filibuster every bill this year in order to keep the state from passing a ban on gender-affirming care – posted a video from Santos to X that she got as a gift from a friend.

“Megan! How are you, darling?” Santos says in the video. “Do I hear that you’re getting some tough heat in the press and that life might be a little rocky now? Let me tell you something: If you believe in what you stand for, and if you fight for what you do, and you stand by those convictions, screw the haters, the haters are gonna hate.”

“Look, they can boot me out of Congress, but they can’t take away my good humor or my larger-than-life personality!”

“To be clear, George Santos is a transphobic fool who has defrauded and harmed people, who says what he has to say to get attention and probably doesn’t actually hold any personal moral convictions, and I also agree with the advice in this video,” Hunt wrote on X.

Santos’s account on Cameo currently has four ratings of five out of five stars.
