Caitlyn Jenner says being trans has become “oversaturated due to indoctrination” in hateful rant

Transgender Fox News pundit Caitlyn Jenner has ramped up her baffling anti-trans crusade, calling being transgender “oversaturated due to indoctrination.”

Earlier this month, the former Olympic gold medal-winner who came out as trans in 2015 launched Fairness First, a PAC that aims “to fight the radical gender ideology, put parental rights at the forefront of education, and keep boys out of women’s sports.”

Jenner is trans and has done ad deals for clothing in the past. But when Dylan Mulvaney does the same, Jenner called it an “outrage.”

In an interview with far-right news outlet Breitbart published on Tuesday, Jenner explained the PAC’s goals while attacking teachers and dredging up tired old rhetoric about LGBTQ+ rights posing a threat to families.

“The ultimate belief of Fairness First is that radical gender ideology infiltrating the classrooms, which has been extremely visible in sports, is an effort to break down the family unit,” she said. “The family unit is under assault and looking to be replaced by teachers — and we see this with laws like the recent ‘California secrecy’ law.”

Jenner was likely referring to California’s A.B. 665, which would allow minors over the age of 12 in the state’s Medi-Cal program to get mental health treatments like therapy paid for through health care benefits without parental opt-in. The bill has become the subject of anti-trans misinformation online, with people like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) saying that it will allow the state to take children away from their parents.

Anti-trans conservatives more broadly have criticized school policies that allow trans and nonbinary students to socially transition without notifying parents.

Jenner, a Fox News contributor who opposes transgender women competing in women’s sports, repeated much of the same baseless, hyperbolic anti-trans talking points that have become all too common on the right in recent years.

“I think this actually comes down to parental rights. Big government left-wing liberals are all about destroying the family unit, at any cost. That means government gets to take the place of the parents and the families,” she said.

“Trans is not made up or fake, but it is oversaturated due to indoctrination and is the latest way the left is destroying the family unit — growing government, the indoctrination in the classroom, and the subsequent drastic increase in children being transitioned is a huge problem,” she continued. “We won’t see the true impact for years to come — but these are serious irreversible decisions and are maliciously being used by government to grow government under the guise of protecting children. That’s why Fairness First is all about parental rights!”

Her statements echoed the growing moral panic around more young people identifying as trans or nonbinary and seeking access to gender-affirming healthcare, which has been perpetuated not only by figures on the right but also by mainstream news outlets, most notably The New York Times. Such narrative positions trans and nonbinary identity as a social media-fueled trend and the wider acceptance and visibility that allows young people to express their identity as “indoctrination.”

On the subject of trans athletes participating in school sports, Jenner said that “state laws need to ultimately govern their schools at a state level.”

“They need to provide state-level guidance to their local school boards, from a legislative perspective, to govern who can compete in what leagues,” she continued. “Our advocacy is to align athletes with sports that are at a chromosomal or DNA level — not birth certificate.”

“I know sports,” Jenner said, “and I know the difference between men and women, and the issue of trans, I believe, while Hollywood and the entertainment complex of today see this as unfashionable now, I will be on the right side of history.”
