Conservatives are seething because Joe Biden mocked Josh Hawley’s Nashville shooting theory

"This is single handedly the most offensive thing I have ever witnessed from the office of the president," one conservative huffed.

President Joe Biden cracked a joke about Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO), and the right is outraged.

Since Nashville chief of police John Drake revealed that investigators believe the Nashville school shooter was transgender, many on the right have been trying to paint the shooting as proof that LGBTQ+ people, and particularly transgender people, have declared an existential war against Christians.

Fox’s Peter Doocy asked if Joe Biden is going to give immigrants $450,000. Biden called out his “garbage.”

In statements that have been criticized for potentially inciting violence against trans people, Fox News host Tucker Carlson said on his show last night that “one side is likely to draw blood before the other side,” referring to the supposed coming war between trans people and Christians.

Hawley is trying to make people believe that the shooting was an anti-Chrsitian hate crime, despite the fact that there isn’t evidence of that. Even though the shooting took place at a Christian school – the Presbyterian Covenant School – the shooter would have had to have targeted Christians as a class for the shooting to be a hate crime. The shooter was a former student of the school and may have had an issue with the school itself, though.

Hawley was the only senator, Democratic or Republican, to vote against a hate crimes bill two years ago when it was Asian Americans being targeted for hate crimes.

Biden was asked yesterday outside the White House if he thinks that “Christians were targeted” in the shooting.

“I have no idea,” Biden responded.

“Josh Hawley believes they were. What do you say to that?” the reporter insisted.

“Well, I probably don’t then,” Biden replied. “No, I’m joking. No, I have no idea.”

“Biden was asked about Christians being targeted and slaughtered by the mentally-ill trans community,” Benny Johnson of the far-right organization Turning Point USA tweeted. “Biden makes a despicable partisan joke and cracks up laughing.”

“Sick. Scumbag. Demonic.”

Biden, like every other president in the history of the country, is a Christian.

This moment comes two days after Biden joked around with an audience full of kids at the White House on Monday, talking about ice cream and how smart his little sister is, trying to put his young audience at ease. He delivered a short statement about the Nashville shooting after his banter, which led to outrage from the right.

“This is single handedly the most offensive thing I have ever witnessed from the office of the president,” the conservative Daily Wire writer Tim Meads huffed.

“Biden’s crass joke about eating Ice Cream just before a statement on the Nashville shooter is no surprise…,” said the far-right Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage. He didn’t explain how he came to the conclusion that Biden saying he has a fridge full of ice cream at the White House is a “crass joke.” “His mental faculties suggest he is wholly unfit to hold public office.”
