Why Boston should celebrate Pride Weekend P-Town style

Provincetown has long been known for its queer atmosphere and gay-friendly shops, bars, restaurants, and festivities. Could there be a better place to celebrate Pride? We think not.

Provincetown Pride Weekend takes place June 3 – 5, 2022, though every day in P-Town is Pride day in our book.

To help make Provincetown more accessible to the next generation of LGBTQ visitors, Bay State Cruise Company will offer half-price ferry tickets during Pride Weekend to anyone age 25 and under with a valid ID. We’re looking at you, Boston. P-Town is just a short ride away! The Provincetown Business Guild and Bay State Cruise Company will host a special Pride cruise on Friday, June 3, departing from Boston’s World Trade Center.

Here’s what we know so far: Kick off the weekend with morning yoga, Pride edition at Boatslip, then waltz on over to Lopes Square for the dedication of P-Town’s rainbow crosswalk. The weekend is nonstop, so be on the lookout for the following events we’ve come to know and love:

  • Rally at Town Hall
  • Parties at Red Room and A-House
  • Sashay to Pride Tea Dance at Boat Slip
  • Pride Kick-Off party at Red Room at Velvet
  • “Yappy” Hour hosted by Puppy Play at Crown and Anchor, which is a dance club, pool complex, and one of the gayest places to stay.
  • Drag Brunch at the Pilgrim House
  • Full Spectrum Beach BBQ at Crown and Anchor, where you’ll enjoy great tunes, fabulous food, and a spectacular view, all while sharing it with your closest and newest queer friends.

To celebrate P-town’s 5th anniversary of Pride weekend, they’ve added some great new queer events as well:

  • Bay State Cruise Co. Pride Crossing (Boston to Ptown): a special ferry crossing just for Pride weekend.
  • Taproom Talks: Right on Q: Identity & Understanding Around the Word’ Queer’
  • “In Their Own Voices”- Community Pride Flag Installation at Town Hall
  • Queer Comedy Showcase featuring Jaye McBride, Franqi French, and others.
  • Sunrise yoga each morning of Pride weekend at Boatslip
  • Feet Over Front Street Pride 5K Run/Walk
  • LGBTQ+ History Trolley Tour of Provincetown

Feet Over Front Street

Shall we go on? The reasons to head to P-Town for Pride weekend are too many to count. While you’re there enjoying the festivities and local gay bars, you’ll need somewhere to stay.

Here’s a list of a few of our favorite P-Town guesthouses and Inns.

Boatslip Hotel & Beach Club

At Boatslip you’re in the heart of the action, always, but especially during Pride celebrations. A pool, dancing, tons of events, along with great rooms…it’s a queer paradise.

The Gaslamp B&B

Gaslamp B&B is run by Jim and Jeff Coté, an incredibly sweet couple that gives back to their community. The Gaslamp has been called the gayest bed and breakfast around. We’d say that’s enough to make us want to try it out. However, there’s more…clothing is optional as you chill out on the back deck, and there’s a to die for hot breakfast every morning.

Crowne Point Hotel Spa & Restaurant

If you plan on attending P-Town pride with romance in mind or even better, want to show yourself some love, book your stay at the Crowne Point Hotel, Spa, & Restaurant. The Crowne is all about pampering. Provincetown’s top-rated spa, luxurious rooms and amenities, and The Pointe restaurant and wine bar, where you’ll enjoy fresh seafood, al fresco dining, and excellent wine and cocktail choices. You know you deserve it.

Check the Providence Business Guild website for updates on the Pride festivities.
