Former President Donald Trump just can’t help himself. His latest ludicrous claim is that he made it possible for Americans to say “Merry Christmas” again.
This might come as a surprise to those who were saying it all along, including the Christmas card industry, grandparents, carolers, and retailers around the nation.

“This was in 2015 when I started campaigning. I said you’re going to say ‘Merry Christmas’ again, and now people are saying it,” Trump started, sounding like he was channeling Grandpa Simpson.
“Of course, they’re not saying a lot of other things like George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson. You know, those names are being obliterated because of craziness.”
He did not mention tying an onion to his belt. But he was appearing on Mike Huckabee’s Christmas in America special for Newsmax, so that might have just been quietly assumed.
“But they are saying ‘Merry Christmas’ again. That was a big part of what I was doing, and I would say it all the time during that period, that we want them to say ‘Merry Christmas.’”
“Don’t shop at stores that don’t say ‘Merry Christmas’ and I’ll tell you, we brought it back very quickly.”
In 2017, Trump ranted during the lighting of the national Christmas tree that he had saved Christmas from the woke Left. The event was most memorable because while the ceremony is normally packed full of people, no one showed up to watch Trump switch on the lights.
