Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) deliberately misgendered Kataluna Enriquez – the first trans woman set to compete in the Miss USA pageant – in a bizarre tweet that left her followers scratching their heads.
Boebert has made a name for herself as one of the most vocally anti-LGBTQ members of Congress. Earlier this month she showed that she doesn’t know what pronouns are, and she once took a brave stance against Spongebob Squarepants being gay.

The news you care about, reported on by the people who care about you:
Yesterday she tweeted a picture of Enriquez, who won the Miss Nevada USA pageant this past weekend. She will be the first transgender contestant at the national Miss USA pageant this coming November.
“When boys start to play dress up,” Boebert wrote, referring to Enriquez, who is a Filipina American woman, “I’m grateful for the women who answer the call to battle.”
She included a picture of Maura Spence in uniform. Spence won the Miss Colorado America title last month and is an active duty soldier.

People had trouble understanding her point other than denigrating trans women. Women used to be barred from military service, so some people pointed out that it wasn’t too long ago that Spence would have also been considered someone who transgresses gender roles.
WTF does that even mean, Qbert?!

Transphobic much, Qbert?

She is beautiful. You are jealous.

Misusing the image of a woman in uniform to support your twisted reality…nice.

Wait, so you do, or don't care about traditional gender roles. I'm really confused by your position here.

Good to hear that you're grateful for the women who answer the call to battle!
I did get that right, didn't I? pic.twitter.com/6K9LEg4u1v

Don't you have important issues to confront and worry over? What is wrong with you?

Boebert has a long history of opposing LGBTQ rights, and especially transgender rights.
She led a press conference outside the Capitol when Congress was voting on the Equality Act, where she went on an unhinged rant full of false claims about transgender pre-teens and told reporters she is raising her sons “to be men” and she is “proud of that.”
“The so-called Equality Act, which we all know is the Democrats using a play on words,” Boebert said during a media appearance this year. “There is nothing about equality in that act. If anything, it’s the supremacy for gays, lesbians, and transves-hikes.”
Last week, Boebert said that it is unfair for transgender weightlifter Laurel Hubbard to compete in the Olympics, calling her “male” and stressing that she believes “This is WRONG!”
Spence will compete in the Miss America pageant in December, but not against Enriquez because she is competing in the Miss USA pageant, which are run by different organizations.
Miss USA is run by the Miss Universe Organization, which banned transgender competitors until 2012. At the time, Donald Trump owned the organization and later sold it in 2015.
In 2018, the first transgender woman to compete in the Miss Universe pageant was Miss Spain, Angela Ponce.
The Miss USA pageant will be held in November in Oklahoma.
