For our second annual Pride in Pictures, LGBTQ Nation asked readers to submit a meaningful photo of themselves at Pride.

We have absolutely loved seeing your joy, your glitter, your fabulous outfits, and of course, your pride. Now, we’re spending the summer sharing some of our favorite photos and stories with all of you.

What makes this photo special to you?

The Seattle Pride Festival in 1986 was special because I marched in it. It was the days of the AIDS Plague and Rotten Ronny Reagan’s tyranny. I snapped this picture in Capitol Hill’s Volunteer Park during the festival after the parade. It symbolizes our Gay Tribe’s pride during some very dark times.
