Queer Eye star Jonathan Van Ness shared their 2020 in review on Instagram, with a thanks to their five million followers and other supporters throughout the year.

“2020 was a year unlike any other,” the non-binary entertainer wrote while talking about all the changes of the new year, before adding: “I got married to my best friend & have a loving partner to continue building my life with.”

Van Ness’s partner/best friend is Mark Peacock, who is from London. In a later Instagram post, Van Ness would share more details about their relationship, even explaining how Peacock met their family.

“We went on a date in London, which turned into more dates whilst I was on comedy tour. At the end of that time I was taking my mom, aunt & friends on a mini break to Amsterdam. I wanted [Mark] to come with but, was it a bit intense to ask Mark to come after a couple weeks worth’s of dates to come meet my mom & and friends on a mini break? Maybe so, but something about Mark felt different and I’m quite sure he felt the same.”

From there, Peacock and Van Ness began spending more and more time together, and shared their relationship on social media often — although it wasn’t publicly known that the two were dating.

The news of the marriage didn’t seem to catch some of Van Ness’s Queer Eye co-stars off guard — but the news that Peacock and Van Ness got a dog did.

“Wait you got a dog?!?!?!” Antoni Porowski wrote.

“Yay! We can finally celebrate it publicly!! So happy for you!!!!!!” commented Karamo Brown, calling the pair “One of the most Beautiful couples in the world.”

Tan France added, “I love you. Here’s hoping next year is so much better, and that we can finally celebrate your marriage.”

Outside of tying the knot, Van Ness wrote that they got to learn more about politics and traveling in 2020, with the post’s first picture featuring Van Ness stumping for Elizabeth Warren earlier in 2020.

“I got to campaign & get more involved politically,” they wrote. “I finished my tour in Australia & NZ for what I didn’t know would be my last standup show for who knows how long…. I had weekly zoom quizzes with folks I miss all the time.”

They remarked that they hope to hang out with his new virtual friend, Ashlee Marie Preston, in person soon. Van Ness, a noted gymnast enthusiast, added that they got to tumble with “icon of icons” in Olympic medalist Simone Biles.

“I hope you’re all staying safe and healthy in these coming days,” they concluded.

Peacock, for his part, wrote in a similar post that “2020 brought on more changes than I’ve ever been a part of before.”

“I left London and moved across the Atlantic, got dressed up for numerous seriously hilarious zoom quizzes, re-discovered a love for gardening, learn to drive on the left, got married to my soulmate and one true love,” he wrote, tagging Van Ness, “and adopted a little Jack Russell called Pablo and entered a family with 4 amazing cats.”

“I sure do hope some of the love I’ve found this year can make its way into the world in 2021,” he added.

“Thanks so much for your support and love for us!” Van Ness wrote in their first post of 2021.
