When author Vanessa Hall’s son, Lachlan, came out, she did her best to be supportive. While she accepted her son and liked his boyfriend, when the two announced their engagement, it was a step too far for Hall.

Hall’s tale of overcoming her religious misgivings is a classic story of redemption and class. In the end, she was there when Lachlan walked down the aisle a few months later.
