Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) has endorsed former Vice President Joe Biden in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary.

In a tweet yesterday, Sinema announced that she will be voting Biden, who she called “a pragmatic, practical leader best positioned to get things done for everyday families.”

“Vice President Biden is authentic, genuine, and has a track record of building bipartisan coalitions to achieve results,” Sinema wrote.

“Not all candidates in this race represent those Arizona values. Joe Biden does.”

Sinema has faced criticism from within the Democratic party about her centrist voting record, so it’s not surprising that she would choose Biden over Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) now that the race has effectively been narrowed down to those two candidates.

Sinema is bisexual and is one of only two LGBTQ U.S. senators. The other – Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) – has not yet endorsed anyone in this primary.
