Marco Rubio feels ‘disrespected’ by Elizabeth Warren’s amazing response to a homophobic supporter

A prominent Republican decided to take a snappy clapback from Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) personally.

Last week at the LGBTQ Town Hall, Warren was asked what she would say to a hypothetical supporter who believes that marriage is between one man and one woman.

“Well, I’m going to assume it’s a guy who said that and I’m going to say, ‘Then just marry one woman. I’m cool with that.’”

“Assuming you can find one,” she added with a big grin.

Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) was offended by his colleague’s witty remark.

He wrote on Twitter that Warren’s joke “vividly captures the condescension of elites & their incessant ridicule of Americans with traditional values.”

“It elicits glee among celebrities & blue check brigade,” he added, referring to people with verified Twitter accounts.

“But for the millions sick of being disrespected it elicits support for fighting back, even in a crude or vulgar way.”

And when it comes to the right being crude and vulgar, Rubio knows a thing or two. He ran in the Republican presidential primary in 2016 and was repeatedly called “Little Marco” by then-candidate Donald Trump.

In response, Rubio made a joke that implied that Trump had a small penis.

For decades, Republicans have painted themselves as the anti-elite party, even as they support tax cuts that disproportionately benefit the wealthy and champion cutting regulations that prevent private business from infringing on people’s rights.

But supporting the humanity of an oppressed minority is, by definition, the opposite of elitism.
