Justin Trudeau popped into a Vancouver gay bar to say hello and grab a beer. The city’s weeklong Pride celebration kicked off yesterday. It’s believed to be the first time a Canadian prime minister has visited a gay bar while in office.
Trudeau made a stop at the Fountainhead Pub on Davie Street, shaking hands with patrons, taking selfies, and having a quick beer.
And social media blew up as the local news and bar patrons started sharing their excitement.
This is the first time a sitting Canadian PM has visited a gay bar, and may even be the first instance the leader of a country has done this. @NEWS1130 pic.twitter.com/Vt5o1g6pum
