Lauren Baer, an attorney and foreign policy expert who served as an official in the Obama Administration, has lost her bid to topple Republican Congressman Brian Mast.

Baer would have been one of the first openly LGBTQ mothers elected to Congress if she had won. Baer was endorsed by the Victory Fund, but wasn’t expected to win.
