But of course, Amsterdam — arguably the capital of gay Europe — would know how to do Pride.

Of course, it’s one of the most-attended events in the Netherlands.

And, yes, its parade is on a canal.

The celebration Pride Amsterdam was founded in 1996 to celebrate freedom and diversity in the gay-friendly city, with five distinct gayborhoods and vibrant nightlife. Pride spans an August week, with exhibitions and cultural and sporting events.

The peak is Saturday’s canal parade, with boats from organizations and entities — and, of course, some scantily clad revelers.
