Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen was booed out of a trendy Mexican restaurant in DC on Tuesday night. Nielsen has been a vociferous defender of the Trump administration’s policy decision to take migrant children away from their parents and detain them in internment camps and “tender age” shelters.

Secretary Nielsen was confronted by protesters who shouted “Shame!” and “If kids don’t eat in peace, you don’t eat in peace!” Nielsen looks down at her phone as she’s jeered and video of the scene appears to show patrons joining the utter rejection of a child stealer’s presence in polite society.

The fact that Nielson chose a Mexican restaurant as immigration officials separate children from migrant parents on the Mexican border wasn’t lost on the crowd. “The f–king gall,” one woman can be heard saying.

Secretary Nielson’s staff released a statement after the incident that firmly establishes her qualifications for the job. She’s willing to lie and twist the truth to defend President Trump’s outrageous civil rights violations.

“While having a work dinner tonight, the Secretary and her staff heard from a small group of protestors who share her concern with our current immigration laws that have created a crisis on our southern border,” Nielson’s spokesperson tweeted. “[Nielsen] encourages all—including this group—who want to see an immigration system that works, contributes to our economy, protects our security, & reflects our values reach out to Members & seek their support to close immigration loopholes that made our system a mess.”
