A church in Australia is attracting attention because of an unintentionally funny message on their sign.

The Anglican Church of the Holy Spirit on the Gold Coast posted the message “Forgiveness is swallowing when you’d rather spit.”

The Gold Coast Bulletin reached out to the church to ask if they knew that their message sounds more like an oral sex tip than spiritual guidance.

Apparently they didn’t.

“You don’t open your mouth and yell at somebody, you close your mouth and swallow,” a church spokesperson said. “If you want to say something, keep your mouth closed for a bit.”

“Swallow it, don’t spit it out.”

Local Member of Parliament John-Paul Langbroek spotted the sign and posted it to Twitter.

Langbroek, who’s a former dentist, said, “Maybe it’s a dental reference.”
