Republican political candidate Jazmina Saavedra filmed herself confronting a transgender woman in a public restroom. Saavedra is running for Congress in California’s 44th District.
In the video below, Saavedra was at a Denny’s in Los Angeles using a selfie stick to film herself.
“I’m trying to use the ladies’ room and there is a man here claiming that he is a lady,” she said.
She went to the women’s room and opened the door. She started berating someone in a closed stall.

“You’re invading my privacy,” said the woman in the stall.
They argued through the closed stall door until Saavedra leaves to wait for the trans woman to leave.
“So, that guy is violating my right to use the ladies’ room here, and he’s saying he’s a lady! Stupid guy,” she said to the camera while she waited.
Saavedra acknowledged that transgender women have a right to use the women’s room under California law. “This is so stupid, that California… how they let people say, ‘It’s a lady, you should….’ It’s a man saying that he’s a lady.”
When the woman leaves the bathroom, she said, “Excuse me, I was in the toilet, how did I invade your privacy?”
The transgender woman left the restaurant, and Saavedra talks to the camera for a few minutes. She pulled a stun gun and pepper spray out of her purse and showed them to the camera, apparently to show that she was willing to attack transgender people who use the bathroom.
She posted the video to Facebook with the caption, “A man in a ladies room saying He is a woman. ( Obama legacy).”
Saavedra is running against Representative Nanette Diaz (D). In a statement, Diaz said, “I was appalled by the treatment that this woman received for simply trying to use the restroom. Everyone has the right to their own identity, and the right not to be discriminated against for who they are.”
