ABC’s cancellation of The Real O’Neals, the teenage coming-out gay family sitcom from the mind of sex columnist and activist Dan Savage, has anti-gay Christian conservatives dancing and singing for joy.

Just like Kenny O’Neal did when he got his first boyfriend.

Right-wing website Newsbusters proclaimed (we are not making this up): “God Is Good: ABC Cancels Anti-Catholic O’Neals.”

But by far, the most vitriolic and vehemently anti-LGBTQ cheerleading came from Catholic League president Bill Donohue, who last year took out a full-page ad in The New York Times to denounce the program and Disney for running it on ABC. As JoeMyGod reported, Dononhue compared Savage to former KKK member and white supremacist David Duke. He repeated some of his rant in a new video announcing the big news of the show’s cancellation after two seasons. It finished as ABC’s lowest rated comedy.

To Donohue, “It’s a good day, people.”
