A former lover of Alexis Arquette started shopping around a sex tape just 24 hours after her death. The tape, which the Daily Mail reports it has seen and which it claims “shows the actress in a compromising position,” is believed to have been made around two years ago.
In a twist to the usual celebrity sex tape story, online adult video company xHamster bought the tape for $25,000 and destroyed all copies.
They wanted to stop the man who sold the tape from “smearing her memory,” said xHamster spokesman Alex Hawkins.

“Ms. Arquette was an icon and activist in the trans community and we could not see someone smear her memory the way the selling party was trying to do,” he said. “We hope people will remember Ms. Arquette for the activist that she was and that her memory will continue to live on.”
xHamster signed a legal agreement preventing them from revealing information about the man who sold the tape.
The site also made headlines in April for blocking North Carolina users in protest of anti-LGBTQ law HB2, which invalidated non-discrimination ordinances passed by cities and municipalities and requires transgender individuals to use the bathrooms and locker rooms matching the sex on their birth certificates in government owned buildings.
