Thanks, Trump: David Duke may run to stop white ‘ethnic cleansing’

Donald Trump has inspired the political ambitions of one of the most divisive politicians ever to hold office in these United States: David Duke, the white nationalist leader who was both a grand wizard in the Ku Klux Klan and a Louisiana state representative.

He has two more days left to file notice that he is launching a campaign to become Louisiana’s next Republican member of Congress.

Duke told The Daily Beast he’s mulling a run to challenge Rep. Steve Scalise, who reportedly once called himself “David Duke without the baggage.”

“I’ve very seriously set up an exploratory committee to run for the United States Congress against Steve Scalise,” Duke told TDB. “I expect to make a decision in a few days” which is imperative since the ballot deadline is July 22.

Duke, according to Right Wing Watch, sees the Republican presidential nominee as opening opportunities for “white nationalists” like him to go “on the offensive:”

The former state representative said he wants to warn his fellow Louisianans that “European-Americans” are “headed toward an ethnic cleansing, and that’s the only way to put it, in the nation that our forefathers created” because of policies that he said are “destroying our people.”

“I love what Trump’s doing. I think that Trump is a breath of fresh air. I don’t know exactly what he’s going to do when he’s in but I think it’s great what he’s doing. But I tell you something, we have got to continue to take this another step, we have got to continue to go on the offensive in this battle. As far as I’m concerned, I’m going to vote for Trump, I said I supported Trump, I’ve been aligned with Trump from very early in this campaign, as you have, but there’s no question in my mind that we need at least one guy in the United States Congress, whether in the House of Representatives or the Senate, at least one guy that will openly stand up for the rights and the heritage of European-Americans and I believe that the time is right.”

Listen to Duke explain how proud and unashamed he is of his leadership of the KKK, of his political ambitions and of his inspiration, Donald Trump, below, courtesy of Right Wing Watch.
