Police in Houston are hunting for Denzel Boone, 23, (pictured above) in connection with the attack on a transgender woman who says she met him through a dating website.
The woman, whose identity is being withheld for her own protection, posted on social media that she was candid about her gender identity. “He knew I was trans upfront and wanted to ‘meet me’ and it was essentially a setup,” she wrote, according to KRPC-TV.
They met at a north Houston apartment complex on March 14, where the victim said he sexually assaulted and robbed her. He also punched her in the face repeatedly, according to the station, breaking her nose and fracturing the orbital bone around one eye.
“She escaped, quite frankly, by stabbing the attacker with the point of an umbrella then got in her car, crashed through a gate and got away,” said Ray McCallister, a friend of the victim.
