The Center for Biological Diversity is celebrating Pride month with a short video about sexual diversity in nature.
“Some salmon are gay. Some bison are bi. Don’t let anyone tell you it isn’t natural,” the group writes on their Facebook page. The group also links to the book Biological Exuberance: Animal Homosexuality and Natural Diversity, one of the New York Public Library’s “25 Books to Remember” for 1999.
Sadly, no matter the number of gay penguin couples in zoos, the religious right, social conservatives, and uneducated rednecks continue to spout off witty retorts like “It ain’t natural!” whenever someone brings up gay people. As has been proven repeatedly, those people are idiots.
Being gay is perfectly natural. Homosexuality has been discovered by biologists to exist in most species of animals.
