A gay dad sounds off on “pseudo-Christian” martyr Kim Davis

Kim Davis is on her way to jail, and on her way to martyrdom. A judge found her in contempt for defying every legal entity extending up through the Supreme Court, and for continuing to deny marriage licenses to same sex couples.

She claims she did so “under God’s authority.”

She intentionally campaigned to be charged with the misdemeanor crime of “official misconduct,” for which she could be punished up to a year in jail. The couple that were denied a marriage license by Davis only wanted her penalized with fees. But that would’ve worked against Davis’s agenda.

Kim is one of two Clerks in Kentucky — both named Davis — that have turned into botched martyrs. How their misguided self-destruction plays out remains to be seen. When it does, we’ll all be very aware.

The Hate PR Media Machine will see to that.

Casey Davis, the other clerk, has vowed to fight to the death — even though no one is trying to kill him, nor has anyone hinted at wanting to kill him. He’s currently on a bike ride across the state in support of Kim Davis.

“I cannot let my sister go to jail without doing something to let others know of her plight,” he states. (They are not related; at least, not by blood.)

Kim Davis’s determination to suffer slings and arrows on behalf of her “faith” is a little more subtle than Casey’s bicycle trek. She’s carried her cross up the stations of the legal system, and now she’s at her final destination, eager to get right to the crucifixion part.

I wish I could warn Davis not to trust her traveling companions, the Liberty Counsel. They’re the ones brandishing the hammer and nails, and they’re the ones collecting all the ticket proceeds for the gruesome spectacle.

Mr. and Ms. Davis will do what they will. Even though the Bible doesn’t address same-sex marriage, and Jesus only comments on the issue of divorce, Kim Davis nevertheless makes this claim: “I never imagined a day like this would come, where I would be asked to violate a central teaching of Scripture and of Jesus Himself regarding marriage. “

So, they, like a few others before them, will fall mightily on their sword, even though it’s only made of paper.

I decided to write a letter.

Dear American Christian Nation,

Before I start, let me clarify. I’m not addressing every American. I’m not even addressing the vast majority of Christians, either. I’m addressing the people who see no separation between church and state. I’m addressing those who can’t see us as a nation — only a Christian nation.

“The chosen.”

The only common requirement? Be extremely homophobic and seek the expulsion of LGBT people from anything that resembles a decent, responsible life.

First we had the baker, the florist, and the pizza maker. The pizza maker’s martyrdom didn’t last long. There was no real situation to address. They’d insulted non-existent people for a non-existent event. And they almost became instant millionaires; pretty much a disqualification for the martyrdom.

The bakers faced a similar conundrum. They thought they had the martyr’s burden of a $135,000 judgment against them… but then they received four times that amount in fundraising efforts. As riches poured into their anti-gay coffers, they raised up their hands. In their best Marie Antoinette impersonations, they cried, “Let them eat cake!” And then they sent out confections to all the people whose weddings they refused to bake for.

If you can’t figure out when to bake and when not to bake — and you’ve earned a big payoff to boot — you’re not a martyr.

The florist’s quest for martyrdom wilted for lack of damage. She claimed loss of a vocation, home and all that she held dear. The truth was she onl6 received a $2,000 fine and some finger-wagging.

Those who don’t get severely punished aren’t really martyrs. They’re drama queens.

There was also the guy who owed the Idaho wedding chapel; who went around telling everyone how he was going to be hauled off to jail. He barely made it on this list… because nobody wanted to patronize him. No authorities questioned his actions. No ordinances were violated. And no issues were raised about how he was running his business.

If you have to beg to be harassed — and you still aren’t harassed — you’re not a martyr.

And now we get to the non-related Davis “Bobsey Twins” of Kentucky.

Casey Davis has taken to his bike to fight the evil LGBT windmills like a crazed Christian Don Quixote.

Kim Davis has taken the role of a modern-day George Wallace, blocking the door to keep a young African American woman from attempting to be the first to register at the University of Alabama. Wallace stood defiant, blocking the door on June 11, 1963, as Vivian Malone sought to enter…

American Christian Nation, it’s time to take a hard look at your players.

They’re not serving you well.

No one is being inspired by Christ because of their actions. No one’s relating to some grand principle. All people see are gestures of small-mindedness and cruelty, inflicted upon innocent people who want nothing more than to love who they love, and be able to start their own families with dignity.

Your martyrs are becoming pawns in a larger opportunistic moneymaking scheme brought to you by the giant Hate Industry.

This isn’t about following God. It’s about following the money.

Right now, billions of dollars are being spent annually to attack other families, just so you can feel self-righteous. Or so you’ve been told.

Has that righteous feeling enveloped you yet? How’s that working out for you?

Here’s the really sad part: The millions being squandered on this vitriol isn’t the money of America’s progressive people. It’s your money. It’s coming from your need to “get at” people that you don’t know or understand. You’re bankrolling a campaign of oppression that your grandchildren will mock and ridicule, wondering how anyone could’ve been that stupid.

The waste is yours. It’s mind-boggling what could you could accomplish if your mindset was re-directed and started focusing on activities Christ truly cared care about: helping the sick, the unfortunate, the homeless and hurt.

What healing can your outpouring of “support” ever do to help these “martyrs”?

You could change this era of Wanna-Be Martyrs and turn it into The Age of Christian Miracles. While the results could be Heavenly, the choice in making it happen is quite of this Earth.

It’s not up to God to change the current trajectory. For Him, this is a spectator sport.

Instead, it’s all up to you.
