Nevada lawmaker, partner become first same-sex couple married in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS — A Nevada state lawmaker has married his partner, becoming the first same-sex couple married in Las Vegas.

State Sen. Kelvin Atkinson wed Sherwood Howard shortly after gay couples began receiving marriage licenses in the wedding capital of the world.

More same-sex unions are expected throughout the evening. The Las Vegas marriage bureau is open until midnight.
