OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — The Oklahoma City chapter of the YMCA has announced a policy shift to allow same-sex couples to sign up for family membership.
The group membership option is open to same-sex couples and their children, as well as any two two adults living under the same roof, along with their dependents through age 23, reports the Oklahoma Gazette.
Brenda Bennett, VP of communications for the local YMCA, said the policy change was not in response to any particular incident, but rather representative of the “changing landscape of households in Oklahoma.”
