FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The University of North Carolina system has directed that in-state tuition be charged to the same-sex spouses of military personnel as long as the couple married in a state that recognizes same-sex marriage.
Fayetteville State spokesman Jeff Womble told the Fayetteville Observer that the school has been directed by the UNC system to offer in-state tuition to such spouses to comply with federal regulations.
In-state tuition is less expensive than that paid by out-of-state students.
