In a new video, Daniel Baer — who was sworn in Wednesday as the U.S. Ambassador to the Organization for Security and Cooperation Europe (OSCE) — introduces himself and his partner Brian Walsh to the citizens of Europe.

Baer’s appointment is one of five high profile diplomatic positions awarded to openly gay men by the Obama Administration during the president’s second term.

Watch:

Baer is a former Georgetown professor, and the former Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor

He and Walsh will be relocating to Vienna, Austria, where Baer will be stationed at the OSCE headquarters.
