Young ‘X-Men’ actor, YouTube celebrity Troye Sivan comes out as gay

Troye Sivan, the 18-year-old Australian actor who played young James in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” and who has amassed more than 500,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel by posting weekly videos, has come out as gay.

Earlier this week, Sivan marked the three-year anniversary of coming out to his family by announcing it to his fans and YouTube audience.

“This is probably the most nervous I’ve ever been in my entire life, but I’m going to deal with it,” he began. “On August 7, 2010, I told my family that I am gay. And on August 7, 2013, I want you guys to know that I’m gay.”

“It feels kind of weird to have to announce something like this on the internet but I feel like a lot of you guys are real, genuine friends of mine,” Sivan explained. “And I share every aspect of my life with the internet and this is not something I’m ashamed of, it’s not something anyone should be ashamed of.”
