BALTIMORE — Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake will officiate a mass wedding for same-sex couples during the Baltimore Pride Festival next month.
The Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Community Center of Baltimore and Central Maryland, which organizes the celebration, announced last week that Rawlings-Blake would serve as grand marshal for the event in recognition of her support of gay rights.
The mayor will also preside over a mass wedding at this year’s event in Druid Hill Park on June 16.
Wedding organizers say they’ve heard from same-sex couples from around the country who are interested in participating in the mass wedding.
