‘Ace of Cakes’ star offers free wedding cake to rejected Oregon gay couple

Baltimore pastry chef Duff Goldman, star of Food Network’s “Ace of Cakes,” has offered to bake and deliver — free of charge — a wedding cake to the lesbian couple in Oregon who was denied service by a local bakery because they are gay.

Appearing on HuffPost Live, Goldman, the executive chef of Baltimore’s Charm City Cakes, said, “I saw this story and I was like, “Wait — I can do something, there’s injustice involving a cake!”

Watch:

The Oregon Department of Justice is investigating a complaint that Sweet Cakes by Melissa in Gresham, Ore., refused to make a wedding cake for a same-sex wedding, a possible violation of an Oregon law that prohibits discrimination in places of public accommodation.

Last week, Aaron Klein, owner of Sweet Cakes by Melissa, said he sells cakes to customers of all sexual orientations, but draws the line, however, at wedding cakes for same-sex couples.
