Houston Dynamo winger Colin Clark is under fire for calling a ball boy a “fucking faggot” in Friday night’s soccer match in Seattle after he wasn’t tossed a new ball as quickly as he wanted on a throw-in situation.
The gay slur was picked up by pitchside microphones for the live, nationally televised match against the Seattle Sounders.

(Update: the video of Clark’s slur was widely distributed on YouTube and Vimeo over the weekend, but MLS has aggressively pursued removing every version of the incident as a “copyright” claim, although is has left in tact other YouTube videos of the Dynamo-Sounders match that did not include documentation of Clark’s slur.)

Immediately following the match, Clark, 27, went into damage control, and posted these apologies on Twitter:
Major League Soccer on Saturday issued a statement that it is reviewing the incident, and said it is “conducting a thorough review of the facts and examining possible disciplinary action.”
“Colin is very remorseful for his actions, which were inappropriate and do not represent his true character,” the Dynamo said in a statement of their own on Saturday. “He has issued a public apology and he will personally apologize to the ball boy.”
The Dynamo lost to the Sounders, 2-0.
