Late night TV’s Chelsea Handler (Chelsea Lately) will host the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center’s 38th Anniversary Gala and Auction at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles on October 24, reports SheWired.com.
The event should be laugh packed with the outspoken Handler and equally outspoken honorees Wanda Sykes (The New Adventures of Old Christine) and Miss Coco Peru aka Clinton Leupp, (trick, Girls Will Be Girls)
Handler is one of the LGBT community’s greatest straight allies. She is an opponent of Prop. 8 and was the Grand Marshal at this year’s L.A. Pride parade. Amber Riley, co-star of Glee, will also perform.
Sykes, also a Prop 8 opponent, will receive the Center’s Rand Schrader Distinguished Achievement Award.
Drag performer Miss Coco Peru will receive the Center’s Board of Directors Award for his commitment to HIV/AIDS causes and the LGBT community. The Center’s Corporate Vision Award will be presented to American Airlines.
