‘Kinky Boots’ star: From backup dancer to leading man in high-kicking tour

NEW YORK -- Kyle Taylor Parker is going from backup dancer to leading man - but staying in 6-inch heels. The performer who has been in "Kinky Boots" since it made its debut in Chicago in 2012 will step into Billy Porter's formidable high heels as the star of the first national tour of "Kinky Boots," which kicks off in Las Vegas on Sept. 4.

NEW YORK — The lethal romp "A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder" got a lot of love at Sunday night's Tony Awards, nabbing the best new musical trophy on a night that also saw Audra McDonald make Broadway history, Bryan Cranston win as a rookie and four-time host Neil Patrick Harris get his own award.

NEW YORK — After years of helping hand out Tony Awards to others, Neil Patrick Harris finally has one of his own. The Emmy Award-winning "How I Met Your Mother" star won his first Tony on Sunday for playing a German male transsexual rock singer in "Hedwig and the Angry Inch," a tale of obsession, glam rock and a botched sex-change operation.
