“Victims,” best describes those who participate (especially those forced to participate) in the macabre ritual of self-loathing that SOCE (sexual orientation change efforts) groups advocate. These are not institutions of healing. But are institutions of shame and degradation. They are not based in science, instead they’re based in ancient dogma, blind bigotry, and willful ignorance.

The organization Parents and Friends of Ex-Gay’s and Gays (PFOX) has decided that GLSEN’s annual Day of Silence is the perfect opportunity for their supporters to pass around flyers promoting “ex-gay” therapy ... such is the tactic of organizations like PFOX. Instead of providing an environment where LGBT students can feel supported and free to be themselves, they are instead spreading the message that “for many youth, homosexual attraction develops due to traumatic experiences, such as sexual abuse.

Truth Wins Out files defamation lawsuit against ‘ex-gay’ organization PFOX

NEW YORK -- Truth Wins Out, a non-profit organization that fights anti- LGBT religious extremism, announced Tuesday that it had filed a defamation lawsuit against Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays (PFOX) and its President Greg Quinlan after he claimed on a television show that Truth Wins Out (TWO) Executive Director Wayne Besen tried to have him killed.

Maryland school official calls ‘ex-gay’ flyer ‘reprehensible and deplorable’

In June, I penned a column, “The Fall of the Ex-Gay Myth,” which predicted that so-called “ex-gay” programs would crumble from internal rot. “It’s time for the discredited ‘ex-gay’ myth to simply go away and be rightfully viewed as an experiment that was tried and failed,” I wrote at the time. In the months since this column was written the decline of these “pray away the gay” organizations has only accelerated.
