Colorado Civil Union Act approved by committee; heads to Senate floor

DENVER -- The Colorado Senate Appropriations Committee on Thursday approved SB-11, the Colorado Civil Union Act. The bill, approved by a vote of 4-3, now moves to the Senate floor for a vote.

All eyes on the House, civil unions at Colorado LGBT Lobby Day

About 180 LGBT Coloradans and allies who took to the Colorado Capitol Feb. 27 to share their stories and feelings with lawmakers who are debating a bill that would establish civil unions in the Centennial State. The 2012 lobby day was organized by One Colorado, a statewide LGBT advocacy organization.

Colorado gay rights group donates to Republican lawmakers who voted for civil unions

One Colorado, the group leading the lobbying effort for civil unions here, has repeatedly pledged to support any lawmaker — Republican or Democrat — who supports relationship recognition legislation. This week, campaign finance reports show the group has made good on its promise.

Poll: Majority of Coloradans now favor full same-sex marriage

Colorado's gay and lesbian community gathered at the west steps of the Capitol March 31 to rally for civil unions.
A majority of Coloradans now support full marriage equality for same-sex couples, a poll released Friday shows. According to Public Policy Polling, 47 percent of those Coloradans polled said they believe gay and lesbian couples should have all the rights of marriage — and the name to boot.
