Pedro Zamora was an AIDS activist who appeared on MTV’s reality series “The Real World.” As the first openly gay and openly HIV-positive person on a television series, he brought national attention to HIV/AIDS and LGBT issues.

Facebook is teaming up with Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLADD), The Trevor Project and others to form a new “Network of Support” to help combat bullying of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender teens.

MTV has been awarded high marks from Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), earning an “Excellent” rating from the advocacy group for its portrayal of gay, lesbian and transgender people on television.
