Terrence McNally’s Broadway play ‘Mothers and Sons’ to close

NEW YORK -- Terrence McNally's "Mothers and Sons" is the first victim of the Tony Awards: It will close on June 22 after missing out on being crowned the season's best play. The play, which had more than 100 performances, is being billed as the first time a legally married gay couple has been portrayed on Broadway.

NEW YORK — The musical "A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder," a comedic romp in which a poor man eliminates the eight heirs ahead of him for a title, and "Hedwig and the Angry Inch," a cult off-Broadway hit that this season stars Neil Patrick Harris, led the Tony Award nominations on Tuesday.
