Are you a reporter or editor of a college newspaper with an affinity for news and issues of interest to the LGBTQ community. Then an internship at LGBTQ Nation might be perfect for you.

You’ll gain valuable experience working with America’s most followed LGBT news source, and your contributions will be enjoyed by an international audience of LGBT readers and allies. We’ll even work with your college or university adviser to assist you in gaining academic credit where eligible.

As an all-digital publication, our interns can reside anywhere; you’ll work out of your home, the library or your local coffee shop. You must be a self-starter, proactive, able to work with little supervision, and be able to meet deadlines. You must also provide your own computer and internet access.

Scope of work:

- Writing news articles,
- Editing news content,
- Reviewing and editing press releases,
- Reviewing wire service content,
- Publishing content via WordPress platform.
- Identifying content.

Ideal candidate:

- You are enrolled in an accredited university or college,
- You are majoring in Journalism,
- You have at least 1 year experience writing or editing for a college publication,
- You have experience working with WordPress,
- You are able to work independently.

This commission-only Advertising Sales Director position oversees the growth and revenue management of our “Community Connection” Business and Service Provider Directory.

You will be responsible for recruiting, training and managing commission-based sales representatives to market and sell listings in our Business Directory. You and your team will be expected to develop new and grow existing accounts through in person, and direct marketing email and telephone sales calls.‚Äč

As the Director, you will earn a competitive commission on your personal sales and accounts, as well as a nominal percentage of each listing sold by your team. You will be exclusively responsible for developing sales strategies, and for the performance of your team, under guidelines set forth by the publisher.

The ideal candidate will possess a broad understanding of the news, issues and political and cultural climate of the LGBTQ community, in order to collaborate effectively with LGBT and LGBT-friendly clients.


- Minimum two years of advertising sales experience,
- Proven success in selling within the online advertising space,
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
- Ability to work effectively with colleagues and clients,
- Excellent negotiation, presentation and interpersonal skills,
- Self-starter with a drive to succeed and a passion for sales
- Confident personality, good at networking, with a collaborative approach .
