Vatican official criticizes Uganda’s anti-gay law, calls for its repeal

BRATISLAVA, Slovakia — A Vatican cardinal has criticized Uganda's anti-gay law and called for the repeal of its severe penalties. Cardinal Peter Turkson of Ghana, president of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, said Tuesday that "homosexuals are not criminals" and shouldn't be sentenced for up to life in prison.

Anti-gay commentators were none too pleased with last night’s performance of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ “Same Love” at the Grammy Awards, which included a ceremony where thirty-four couples — including same-sex couples — were married. Unsurprisingly, many claimed that the show was evil and mean to anti-gay activists.
