Seven more groups now designated by SPLC as anti-gay hate groups

Monday, March 3, 2014
The Southern Poverty Law Center has added seven more anti-gay organizations to its list of anti-gay hate groups. No doubt the standard whine of these groups will be the same one offered up by the Family Research Council when SPLC named it as a hate group a while back, i.e. “we are being attacked because we don’t believe in gay marriage, we are trying to preserve Christian morality, we are being silenced.” That whine was a lie then and is still a lie... The ugly collusion between ‘religious faith’ and bigotry

Monday, December 30, 2013
There is an ugly collusion between religious belief and bigotry which we don’t talk about, and it didn’t begin with the LGBT community. It wasn’t that long ago when religious belief and faith was used to justify slavery, segregation, and anti-Semitism. Sadly, the LGBT community seems to be the last bastion where it is okay to justify demonizing people under the guise of “adhering to one’s faith.” ... Folks who do these things always seem to think that they own the word "Christianity" and everyone else is beholden to their interpretation. [ Read more → ]

The LGBT community desperately needs to confront anti-gay propaganda

Wednesday, September 18, 2013
The LGBT community has deceived itself into thinking that if we just sidestep the lies and distortions and solely focus on “telling our stories” as ordinary people seeking fairness under the American system, our problems with those who oppose our right to equality will dissipate. It’s high time that the LGBT community realize that this belief is a false bill of goods that serves as a pitiful Band-Aid to a problem that requires more than stories designed to yank at the heart strings; indeed, such efforts make it look as if we are begging for “tolerance.” [ Read more → ]

Family Research Council clearly lying about scientific evidence, gay parenting

Saturday, March 9, 2013
Do me a favor, folks. Don’t shake your head, suck your teeth and go “there they go again” at yet another time you have seen the Family Research Council blatantly lie about the gay community. Demand that more time and knowledge be invested in uncovering how organizations like FRC distort science or push blatant lies against the lgbt community. Organizations like the Family Research Council don’t rely on truth. They rely on repetition. They repeat a point while deliberately ignoring the simple fact that the point has been refuted by those who know better. [ Read more → ]

Family Research Council is to blame for near massacre at its headquarters

Thursday, February 7, 2013
Someone has to sit Tony Perkins down and school him on the truth. I am very certain that Perkins is already aware of this truth, but he needs to be told publicly so that everyone else can know. The Southern Poverty Law Center is not responsible for Floyd Corkins’ near massacre at FRC headquarters last year. If Perkins wants to blame someone, he should look to himself and his organization. For years, while under the guise of Biblical principles, the FRC has dehumanized the LGBT community.... [ Read more → ]

NOM promotes article comparing gay parents to rapists, sexual predators

Tuesday, October 9, 2012
Pay attention, gay folks. There is seems to be a quiet war going on against our rights to be surrogate parents. Via the NOM blog, I found this highly offensive piece, The New Sexual Predators. In it, the author, Alana S. Newman compares gay couples... [ Read more → ]

Mike Huckabee spreads confusion about homosexuality and pedophilia

Saturday, July 21, 2012
The reason why the Boy Scouts made such a ridiculous decision regarding keeping gays out is because people like former Governor and now radio talk show host Mike Huckabee. Listen how he and a caller who was molested as a child makes it seem that gays want to be in the Boy Scouts to "go after" children. [ Read more → ]

Marvel Comics proves religious right has unhealthy obsession with gay community

Monday, June 4, 2012
In the last few years, “The Punisher” comic book has been the showcase of, shall we say, repulsive actions, all viewed in living color ... But not once, I repeat, not once have any religious right group raised anything resembling anger, outrage, disgust, or downright shock over any of these things... [ Read more → ]

Dear Alveda King, your lie about Bayard Rustin will not go unanswered

Friday, May 25, 2012
Dear Ms. Alveda King, you like to talk about the so-called sin of homosexuality, but let me remind you that the Bible also says something against bearing false witness. And between me and you, from one African-American to another, I would personally like to know just what constitutes you as a genuine leader in the black community? To my knowledge, no one has taken the initiative to ask you that question, so I would like to. Do you really think that your relationship to one of the greatest American leaders of the 20th century makes you a leader? [ Read more → ]

Conservatives throwing tantrums at black community over Obama support

Saturday, May 19, 2012
I must say that I am getting a kick out of reading and watching those on the right, particularly the religious right, predict how African-Americans will desert President Obama come election day due to his support of marriage equality. It’s hilarious to me to read the right-wing publications and blogs give room to a supposed angry black pastor who whines about how Obama has betrayed the black community, of course omitting the fact that said pastor never really supported Obama in the first place... FRC itching to be humiliated again as ‘Day of Silence’ approaches

Sunday, April 15, 2012
Because the "Day of Silence" -- and the organization behind it, GLSEN (the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network) -- deals with the plight of LGBT students, they both have been in the cross hairs of religious right groups who claim that Day of Silence is simply another way to supposedly “indoctrinate” students into homosexuality... My problem with GoProud — Where is the pride?

Wednesday, February 22, 2012
The Republican gay group GoProud has been given a lot of negative names by many in the LGBTQ community from "quislings" to "sell-outs" to "Uncle Toms." While I'm not as descriptive of my displeasure of GoProud, believe me when I say that it's there. I'm not a fan of GoProud for many reasons. [ Read more → ]

‘Porno Pete’ LaBarbera wants you to know what anal warts look like

Monday, February 20, 2012
Over the years, I have joked about and done my best to expose the wanton homophobia of “Porno Pete” LaBarbera, head of the hate group Americans for Truth. You mean same-sex families have children? Alert the Marines!

Sunday, February 12, 2012
The entitlement and audacity of some who oppose LGBTQ equality never ceases to amaze me. Of all of the false hysterical claims they make, the one about children has to take the cake. "If marriage equality is accepted, children will be forced to learn about gays." [ Read more → ]

Anti-gay pastor, NOM ally goes off the deep end again about ‘gay sex’

Monday, January 30, 2012
Raleigh N.C. "diaper pastor" Patrick Wooden is not only refusing to take back his comments that gay men have so much anal sex that they require surgery and diapers, and that they use gerbils, baseball bats, and cell phones as sexual instruments, but he seems to be reveling in his notoriety at the expense of looking like a damn fool. NOM wants Newt Gingrich to ‘save’ marriage? Hilarity ensues

Sunday, January 22, 2012
It's obvious that if Newt Gingrich is interested in, as NOM claims, preserving marriage as the union between one man and one woman, he seems to think that he is exempt from the rule. And it's even more obvious that NOM's silence regarding his, shall we say, indiscretions is signalling that the organization is turning a blind eye to his past behavior. [ Read more → ]

Another researcher has come out complaining about how a religious right "expert" distorted her work to stigmatize the LGBTQ community. Rick Fitzgibbons of the NARTH (the National Association of Research and Therapy of Homosexuality) distorted research on same-sex adoption to make the case that children in same-sex households are not raised better than children "in stable homes with a mother and a father."
