The measure, written by the conservative advocacty group Center for Arizona Policy and the Christian legal organization Alliance Defending Freedom, would allow individuals to use religious beliefs as a defense in a lawsuit filed by another individual.
Arizona state lawmaker Chad Campbell, an LGBT rights advocate and vocal opponent of a bill passed in the state legislature that would allow for religious discrimination against LGBT people, appeared on CNN on Friday to discuss the implications of the measure should it be signed into law by Gov. Jan Brewer.
