A violent video game that allows you to play as Jesus Christ, Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, or Adolph Hitler in a battle against LGBTQ people, feminists, and “social justice warriors” is getting a sequel and it sounds just as awful as the first.

Jesus Strikes Back: Judgement Day was released in early 2019 and developers are so pleased with themselves that they announced a sequel, Jesus Strikes Back 2: The Resurrection. The sequel is being promoted on Steam.

This version will include nine playable characters and adds British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to the lineup of “heroes.” Brenton Tarrant, the Christchurch, New Zealand mass shooter who targeted Muslims, was a character in the previous version.

The Diversity Museum, Gender Studies Academy, and Club Rainbow are all areas in the game where players encounter non-playable characters like Satan, “feminists, lesser SJWs, climate activists, vegans, furries, communists, demonkrats, actual literal demons, rainbow militants, and plethora of others.”

The developer, 2 Genderz, has posted a disclaimer on their site trying to portray themselves as simple jokesters and denied that the game portrays violence against minority groups, even thought LGBTQ people are specifically listed as enemies to kill in the game.

“ALL OF OUR GAMES ARE SATIRICAL HUMOR, AND IS NOT A GAME WHICH FEATURES SIMULATED VIOLENCE AGAINST ANYONE BASED ON ANY IMMUTABLE CHARACTERISTIC (SUCH AS GENDER, RACE, RELIGION, SEXUAL ORIENTATION, ETC) WHATSOEVER (SEE BELOW FOR FULL CLARIFICATION ON THIS MATTER). WE CANNOT STRESS THIS MATTER ENOUGH, AND SINCE SUCH CLAIMS ARE ENTIRELY FALSE AND WITHOUT MERIT, WE ASK THAT ALL WHO READ THIS STOP IN FURTHER SPREADING SUCH FALSEHOOD,” they wrote in all-caps on their website.

“JESUS STRIKES BACK: JUDGEMENT DAY IS SIMPLY A COMEDIC VIDEO GAME AND DOES NOT PROMOTE, ADVOCATE, CONDONE OR INCITE VIOLENCE AGAINST ANY INDIVIDUAL(S) BASED ON GENDER, RACE, RELIGION, NATIONALITY, POLITICAL BELIEFS, OR SEXUAL ORIENTATION.”

But that claim rings hollow considering that most of the game’s playable characters are aligned with right-wing conservatism and most of its enemies are associated with left-wing and progressive causes. “Satire” often involves a political target being mocked, but its creators would like to pretend otherwise.
