This hilarious video is built around a strange metaphor for being gay

A saucy ad for the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras pokes fun at the stereotypical coming out scene.

At a barbecue for a man’s birthday, everyone likes barbecue sauce. A lot.

Well, almost everyone.

The man’s son has to come out… as a ketchup eater.

The point is that someone’s sexual orientation should be about as controversial as what kind of meats and sauces they like… Wait. That came out wrong.

The ad ends in reconciliation, a call for acceptance of diversity, and the beginning of a story from grandma about that one time in 1964.
