A Los Angeles area home was ransacked and anti-gay slurs were spray-painted on the walls Tuesday evening.

The owners of the Van Nuys house, who have not spoken with the media and have not been identified, were not home during the burglary, according to KABC. The incident was reported at 6:10PM when the victims found their home vandalized and ransacked.

Anti-gay slurs were spray-painted on the walls and gallons of paint and bleach were spilled on the floor. The LA Times reports that walls were also kicked in and water pipes were destroyed.

LAPD has started a hate crime investigation but currently has no suspects. Police are reviewing surveillance video and interviewing neighbors for possible information.
