Andy Cohen announces he battled skin cancer this year (and won)

Television personality Andy Cohen made a startling announcement on Live With Kelly on Friday when he revealed that he had recently battled skin cancer – and won. Cohen credited his co-host, Kelly Ripa, and her husband, Mark Consuelos, for pushing him to see a doctor after he discovered a small black spot on his lower lip.

The spot was a melanoma, but Cohen’s doctor removed it and gave him a clean bill of health.

Cohen admits that he loves the sun and having a glowing tan. His recent brush with skin cancer, however, has made him reexamine his health precautions.

“I am tanorexic. I love the sun, I really do, but be careful. And I, of course, never thought that that kind of thing would happen to me and it will change my relationship to the sun.”
