It’s Pride season, which means a glut of pro-LGBTQ ads will be saturating the marketplace. We can expect lots of ludicrous backlash from the right-wing, too — even more so than usual.
Case in point: This brand-new Bud Light ad starring Amy Schumer and Seth Rogan, released June 1. (We first reported the news here.) A celebration of marriage equality, it was almost instantaneously lambasted by bigoted commenters the moment it was posted on Twitter. For embracing both interracial marriage and gay marriage, some naysayers are even demanding a boycott.
Here’s a taste of some of the unsavory comments left on Twitter:
@budlight y’all my favorite beer but don’t start with this gay shit

@budlight Goodbye @Budweiser. You just lost a customer for life.

Not about love; it’s about a minority pushing a deviant socio-political agenda intended to quash liberty.— Michael Liu (@spyguy8080) June 2, 2016

Support “love” in all forms? So I take it you support pedophilia. How about bestiality & necrophilia?— Michael Liu (@spyguy8080) June 2, 2016
@budlight NO! Offensive and will not buy or use your products anymore

@budlight Is this supposed to boost your lagging sales? Pick a polarizing subject and make a big deal out of it? Great marketing (not).

How many leftist hypocrites can @budlight overpay & squeeze into a pandering waste of time? This is so f’in stupid! #enough

@budlight this used to be the only beer i drink. Now i will find another lite beer to drink. One that doesn’t push the gay agenda onto us.

@albertcombrink @budlight i try to follow what catholic church teaches. Love and respect for gays. Not acceptance. But respect/compassion.

@tiptheflick@unamujerregular I am not a bigot. I know right and wrong. Domestic partnerships? Fine whatever. But marriage? No
