For many years there’s been a longstanding rumor that Whitney Houston and her best friend and personal assistant Robyn Crawford were romantically involved.
Now, Bobby Brown informs Us Weekly that the rumors are true: “I know,” he says. “We were married for 14 years. There are some things we talked about that were personal to us.”
Houston met Crawford as a teenager while the two girls worked together at a New Jersey community center, and Crawford became the star’s assistant (and eventual creative director).
Bobby Brown discusses Houston’s bisexuality in his brand new book, Every Little Step.

With keen perceptiveness, he tells Us, “I’m a man and she was attracted to me!”
Brown thinks that Houston denied being bisexual partly because her mother Cissy didn’t condone her relationship with Crawford, and even wanted Crawford fired.
In 2013, Cissy Houston told Oprah it would “absolutely” bother her if her daughter was gay.
Brown says, “I really feel that if Robyn was accepted into Whitney’s life, Whitney would still be alive today. She didn’t have close friends with her anymore.”
In 2013, after her friend’s fatal overdose of Benadryl, Xanax, marijuana, and cocaine, Crawford wrote in Esquire that Houston “looked like an angel” and was “a loyal friend.”
“I loved her laughter, and that is what I’ll miss the most.”
