A transgender woman alleges she was attacked by a group of five men in New York City earlier this month on 9th Street near 7th Avenue in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn. She says a man approached her after she exited the subway as the others surrounded her from behind.
She told the Washington DC NBC affiliate that she tried to walk away as the men started shouting slurs.
“I was just trying to get away at that point, I just didn’t want any altercation,” she told the station. “Next thing you know, I got my hair pulled and was just getting hit in multiple directions, fists at the same time.”
The woman, who asked not to be identified, was treated at a local hospital.
