This teen was kicked out of a Ted Cruz rally for being trans

James Van Kuilenburg, a sixteen-year-old boy, claims he and his mother were forcibly removed from a Ted Cruz rally solely on the grounds that he is trans.

He peaceably attended the rally “to represent the LGBT youth that are hurt by propaganda and rhetoric.”

In the video below, he explains to Salon that he was standing in front of the Weinberg Center for the Arts, the venue that was holding the Cruz rally. Van Kuilenberg wore a “National Center for Transgender Equality” T-shirt, and carried a sign and a transgender pride flag.

While seated in the theater and waiting for Cruz to appear, he says: “I was tapped on the shoulder… when I turned, there was a Campaign Staff member, asking me to leave.”
