Five GOP candidates to join pastor who thinks AIDS is God’s way of punishing gays

This weekend, five Republican presidential candidates are expected to speak at a so-called “religious freedom” event hosted by a pastor who has repeatedly claimed that AIDS is God’s punishment for the “immoral act” of being gay; a man who once called for a “class action lawsuit” against homosexuality as a whole.

Jeb Bush, Ben Carson, Ted Cruz, Carly Fiorina, and Mike Huckabee are scheduled to join Saturday’s “Free to Believe Broadcast,” hosted by the Family Research Council’s Tony Perkins and Vision America’s Rick Scarborough.

Perkins and Scarborough are two of the most outspoken antigay activists in the entire country.

As Right Wing Watch reports, both have claimed their rights are being decimated by the LGBTQ movement — even while doing everything in their power to curtail the rights of LGBTQ people.

Perkins has gone on the record to say that it’s the persecution of Christians that inspired ISIS, while Scarborough has proudly stated that he’s ready to burn to death in the fight against gay marriage.

Scarborough also thinks that “homosexual disease” AIDS is God’s “judgement as a result of an immoral act” and that God would simply shrug and “give us the cure for AIDS today” if Americans stopped supporting gay rights.
